Greetings,

I'm unable to access my company's website from inside my network. Is there a specific setting I need to have in DNS in order for my site to work? Everything works great fromthe pubic internet.

Thanks,

Theo

You mean that I need to add my website's IP to the Forwarder or need to create a host A?

My apologies asking for details, I'm very familiar with DNS.

Thank you again for your reply!

If your internal domain and external domain are the same, i.e. company.com, then you need to add an A record on your internal DNS server for pointing to your website.

There are several ways to do it. If your internal namespace is the same as the website, then an A record for the IP of the website externally should work. If namespace is different, then you can create an internal AD zone for that name space and then input the A record for there. Or you can put in a DNS forward to the Authoritative DNS server for that website.

Why in the world would you create a zone if for an external website? Doesn't make sense. His ISP forwarders will handle that request. If his DNS wasn't already forwarded, or his root hints were out of whack, he'd be complaining that his users couldn't get to any website.

It depends on your environment, but I don't create an internal zone "just" for I just SAID it could be done. The authoritative DNS server for the website is just for the website. Having an internal zone allows you to put in A and MX records if need be say for webmail or an ftp site, or items that are in a DMZ, it also helps you access external links internally without having to go to the Web Host to manage these for you. Like I said...depends on individual envoironemnts.

Well, that's not what you said, so I think it important that you clarify for him what you're talking about.

Thank YOU much! Everything is up. I added as you mentioned my website ip address into the DNS forward and everything come up..

Thank you all!
