Fellow Techies,

Just a quick one.

I’ll be upgrading our 10 Windows 2003 Domain Controllers to SP2. I’ve two questions:

- As I want to test SP2 on a non FSMO servers – can I run domain controllers with different service pack levels?
- Were you aware of any issues after upgrading to SP2?
Many thanks.

Regards,

Michael

1 - yes
2 - Didn't encounter any problems when applying SP2 across my domain.

I'm Certifiable, not cert-ified.
It just means my answers are from experience, not a book.

There are no more PDC's! There are DC's with FSMO roles!

Davetoo,

Thanks a lot for a prompt responce.

Regards,

Michael

Keep in mind that having them at different SPs can cause unexpected results if you're attempting to use some feature or change that is in the newer SP. It's best to keep them at the same SP.

If you want to test the latest SP, I'd suggest building a VM of a DC and playing with that.

Plan for performance, and capacity takes care of itself. Plan for capacity, and suffer poor performance.

58sniper,

I think I'll do that first.

Cheers.

Regards.
