Hello all.

I have a user profile created on a Windows 2000 workstation pulling from a NT 4.0 server. The profile login tends to slow down after a period of 4 to 5 weeks. First thought was corruption, but I am wondering where the corruption is coming from. Temporary profile tends to error and roaming profile tends to error also after a period of time. Logon slowness doe not occur on NT workstations, only 2000.

Any suggestions? Comments?

Don't know the exact cause, but we ran into this same problem not long ago with one of our 2K Pro machines that was trying to pull a profile from a NT 4.0 server. The lag time at longon and logoff kept getting longer and longer, taking up to 5 minutes at times. We decided to get around it by having the user log on to the computer and not the network. The way we had the card configured, they would still authenticate to the network and have access to all network resources (e-mail, internet, public folders, etc.) but his station wouldn't try to pull that roaming profile off the server every time they logged on. It seems for some reason that W2K Pro and NT 4.0 profiles just don't jive.

Hope that helps.
