I/we have recently been dabbling with windows 2000 policies and permissions in an attempt to get to grips with workstation security.
We have set workstation users to the level of user, and removed the ability to modify the screensaver.
Now the majority of the applications are working fine with one or two quirks, such as Spellchecker not appearing in Word(Office 97) unless the user has a poweruser rating or higher, and Autoroute 2000 refusing to run unless poweruser or higher is set.
I have put this down to registry permissions and am "attempting" to find out which keys they require access to but it's a painfull process.
Does anyone have any useful links/references to windows 2000 permissions on older software that they might share? I have googled for a couple of days now without anything of much relevance appearing.
