Hi

We have several two-node active/passive clusters, which all run Windows 2000 Advanced Server (SP4).

Each cluster hosts a SQL 2000 (SP3) instance for each of our "products".

We are planning an upgrade for all of our servers, to Windows 2003, which will include the clustered servers.

I have reviewed the Microsoft Technet article for carrying out this upgrade on a SQL cluster, although it looks like they are giving the example on an Active/Active cluster. (
Does anyone know the basic procedure involved for upgrading the OS on an Active/Passive cluster? Is it just a case a pausing the active node, upgrading it, and then doing the same for the other node?

Your help is very much appreciated!

pause the passive node and upgrade it to windows 2003, then un pause after done with it. Move groups and do the same for the other node.
