windows 2000 server issues that confuse me!

hey hey people, i got a bit of an issue with a 2000 server box setup as a file server. basically when i try and open the network connections, explorer crashes or controll pannel crashes. so i thought i could try and configure it from computer management but the same thing happens, its a gigabit card and it seems to be quite a slow connections considering that its a giga card, problem is its integra!!! i can remove it to check if the cards donald ducked or not.

any ideas?

u might have a virus?!
2 my understanding, ur sitting in front of the server, the connection is slow but working, and ur not able 2 configure what? (nic?)
ping 127.0.0.1, local loopback, that verifies the protocols are bound to the nic.
check running processes
check nic in device manager.........
