Hello,
I currently have a Windows 2000 domain and I am running Exchange 2000. I have a total of 2 servers, one is the PDC and the other is in the domain running Exchange 2000. I am going to upgrade to Exchange 2003 and I want to run this on a fresh install of Windows Server 2003.
I am planning on backing up all the mail to .pst files and then uninstalling exchange via add/remove programs, waiting an hour for the domain to settle and then dcpromo-ing the server out of the domain thus transfering the FSMO roles all to the PDC.
I was then going to format the old exchange 2000 server with Windows Server 2003, and then run /forestprep and /adprep, reboot and then install Exchange 2003...
I have only 3 mailboxes and I want a perfect box (no upgrades)
Is my process to accomplish the above sound? Am I missing any critical steps?
Will my uninstallation of Exchange 2000 successfully remove the ad attributes out of the domain thus allowing me to create a new Exchange 2003 instance once my reinstall is complete?
Thanks!
