have a windows 2000 server running sp3, but when I try and login I just get a blue screen, I think all the services are loaded because all the clients can access printers, files, emails & virus software.

When I do a 'alt ctrl del' there are no applications loaded, when I try and load cmd or explorer task manager just closes down leaving me with a blank (blue) screen.

I have tried starting in safe mode and using windows 2000 repair from CD.

The problem seems to me is that the explorer shell is not loading.

any ideas ?

Try reinstalling 2k server using the Upgrade option to delete only the existing OS, not the data files...

What about the app's that is installed on the server? will you have 2 install them again?

No, when you re-install an os, without taking out files, the os gets cleaned up with the correct files. Good luck.
