Since upgrading to Win2000 pro from Win 98, I've started to get random reboots on my system. They seem to happen sporatically, though I have noticed that they tend to happen more the more stress the system is under (games=most, surfing=sometimes, idle=once or twice). I'm thinking that it's more of an OS incompatibility, as I did not have random reboots under Win98, though I did get BSODs. Anyone know if WIn2000 would randomly reboot on an error? If so, any ideas would be appreciated!

My system stats:
AMD K6-2 500
256 Meg RAM
Hercules GeForce2 MX 400 32 Meg
Creative SB live XP Gamer
Maxtor 15 Gig HD
generic CD Rom, floppy

Here is where to see what your settings are.

Right-click My Computer, and choose Properties On the Advanced Tab, click the Startup & Recovery Button. Check the Automatically Reboot box.

Interesting! I wonder if the system's been having "issues", and it's been hiding the fact from me with the rebooting. Thanks for the tip! I've unchecked the box, and will see what happens from here.

Having built a number of AMD-powered PCs, I'm very aware that you need an adequate power supply. Was your system a custom job or off-the-shelf?
AMD CPU's also like to have the memory set to CLA=2. This is a BIOS setting which you could check.
Your problem sounds VERY frustrating, so hope you get it fixed soon. [morning]
