It's weird. No devices were added or installed. Just rebooted and on the startup screen the progress bar gets to a certain point then never moves. The computer doesn't freeze or anything. Then after about 10-15 minutes, I get a BSOD telling me that something was added and that I should reboot. I reboot and it does the same thing. I have tried going into safe mode (which works fine). I've downloaded all updates, checked for any device errors and fixed them.. but once I reboot and try going in normal mode the same thing happened. Like I said, nothing has been added or installed.. any help is greatly appreciated

suggestions in no particular order:-

disconnect as many devices as you can - just leave minimum for 2k to be able to boot (eg, all PCI cards & turn off any onboard devices in bios, all CD/DVD/floppy/zip drives, all USB devices, printers scanners) & see if it will boot. If > 1 stick memory, try each on its own.

(also check physical connections, cables etc)

repair reinstall -
Run drive manufacturer's diagnostic (usually available on their site). If ok, try running chkdsk /r from recovery console (or chkdsk /f from command prompt in safe mode - schedule to run on restart).

Wolluf,

Thanks for the suggestions. I found out that the user didn't tell me that he tried to install a RAM chip. Turns out he put the wrong one in. I took it out and windows started right up.
