Running Windows 2000 Professional on Dell CPX notebooks, 256 meg of RAM. Using MicroFocus COBOL (from Merant) and Dialog Systems (DSWIN) to run/develop our own Windows applications.

These apps require certain 'path' statments, formerly in the autoexec.bat under 95/98. Have added them to the autoexec.nt, added an autoexec.bat and edited the path to include them in the environment variables. Can launch the application from a dos window but not from an icon on the desktop. Can't find much help on the path statement for Windows 2000.

Can anyone help with what the difference may be in launching from a dos window versus an icon?

JPL0457, Have you tried setting up environment variables under the advanced tab in system properties? You can also edit the path statement in the PATH system variable.

I hope this helps.
