My Windows 2000 pro hangs during boot at "Applying security policy..."

I updated latest security patches from MS thursday, and also updated my mcafee antivirus. things worked ok Friday. Saturdy am would not boot. I have tried several times and its stops at same "Applying security policy screen.

I did a F8 and hit "Last Config." It worked after sitting there for 15 minutes with "Applying security policy..."

Suggestions to clean this up?

I assume if you leave it for long enough it will login ? If so leave it and then check out the event viewer.

Alternatively you could boot into safe mode and uninstall everything you installed...

I am here to see what the problem is but I know how to get around it.
Take the network cable out of the back on the computer, boot it up to the sign on screen, and then put the cable back in and sign in like normal.
Not sure why you have to do that just yet but I am looking to find out why now.

Hope that gets you by for now.
