hi,
It will be to do with the file association for XLS.
Open Explorer
Tools | Folder Options
Click in File Types Tab
Scroll down to XLS in the list of file types
Click on Advanced
Click on Open and choose Edit
Untick the box "use DDE" and make sure the following is in the Application box:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\EXCEL.EXE" "%1"
Your path might be sliightly different but you should have teh quotes in these places and a "%1" at the end of the line.
