I'm trying to set up a SQL Server 7.0 ODBC DSN on a Windows 2000 Professional desktop.
When stepping through the ODBC connection wizard, it does not allow me to change the network library in the Client Configuration section. When I choose Named Pipes or TCP/IP or any other network library and click OK, it automatically defaults to "Other" without saving the network library I choose or any of its parameters.
After running through the wizard and even getting a "Connection Tested Successful" message, the DSN does not get saved.
I've run through the exact same ODBC DSN setup on a Windows NT desktop and it worked fine. I'm not sure if this is a Windows problem or if the other desktop is missing some piece of software.
Any idea why this is happening and how I can fix it?
Thanks,
Rick
