Hi,

I put my database on a windows 2000 laptop to day and for some reason it also had a file named "PRO lock file"
where pro is the name of my database. this system has access 2000 already installed and I cant run the data base i get a table unavailable error or something like that.

Does anyone have any ideas to what is going on. By the way I just used a cd and draged and droped the file to the desktop.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

loneranger27,

If you run any Access .mdb file, you will see a temporary file created alongside it called [filename].ldb, where [filename].mdb is your Access file. So don't worry about the .ldb file, that's normal.

The fact that you copied your file from a CD is the key here. It's still marked "Read Only" because it was on a CD. Stupid, I know, but that's what Windows thinks is best.

To solve your problem:

1) Make sure you have closed the Access database
2) Right-click on the .mdb icon
3) Un-check/un-tick the Read Only box
4) Click okay

Did this help? If not, do the same to the folder the file is in.

Dave.
