Hi,

I have a brand new AMD machine running Windows 2000 on which is installed NAV 2002. It runs fine (including full system scan and running other programs like Word, Excel, etc.) ... until I do live update and update the virus definitions and programs. The update appears to go well (i.e. no error messages). And after it reboots, everything appears normal.

However, whenever you try to open a Word document, or read some email ... everything freezes up. Even if I take off autoprotect ... same result.

If I try to run a system scan, it starts off just fine and then freezes (at different file number counts) in the middle of the scan.

After the system has frozen, and I try and do CTRL-ALT-DEL to shut down the system ... there is always a NAVW task that is not responding that I need to end.

Is this a known bug with fix? Or do I need to go out and purchase McAfee?

Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I would uninstall NAV and see if that fixes it. If not try an online virus scan(not norton) Panda RAV and Bit Defender are good ones. Look in google

Thaks for the reply Crow,

Yes, uninstalling NAV 2002 does solve the problem. But if I reinstall and do LiveUpdate, the problem returns. I was just hoping the use the program I purchased ... but that may not be possible.

The only thing I can suggest is trying Norton website for help. But that is a big pain. good luck
