Hello:
What Security\Rights need to be set in allowing a Software package to utilize the Serial Comport (i.e. COM1)in Win 2K? For example, the software I'am using has peripheral setting that allows the user to select a printer, Scale, generic, Scale or No Setup. If I attempt to select Scale (no matter what the baudrate, parity, stop bits or handshake is set to) the Software package generates an error "Error setting Communication Parameters for Port #1". This does not happen on a Win 95\98 or some Win\2k machine. I have 2 win 2/k, one I loaded the OS and did not have a problem, the other, my company loaded. I have Admin Rights but do not know how intense they are. I can install, Unistall, read & write for files and Registry on my company install win 2K. Another note, I can run a label printer off the Serial Com1 or 2 however that is when the settings in the Software package - peripherals is set to "No Setup" hence, I can use a Generic Com driver in the Windows printer folder. Any suggestion will be very helpful.
PS - I went into the BIO and try changing the COM's from Auto to i.e. "COM PORT 1"
Thank you,
PM
