I have had trouble running Impromptu in Windows 200. I have tried this twice and both time it runs fine for about a month and then it gets a little unreliable. After a few days of that it just quits working altogether. Frequent problems I see are not being able to switch between screen and page view and not being able to create a new report. Has anyone else had similar problems? It seems to be something in windows (swap files?, memory overwrites?) that is causing the problem, but I have tried everything I know to clean it up.

Thanks

Beth,

I have several clients running Impromptu under Win2K. They are running version 6, which is the only version Cognos supports on Win2K.

Is this the version you are having the problems with?

Well I am new to Cognos-Stuff, but my company uses it for some projects.
Im running Impromptu-V6 on w2000 and it hangs some times, when i try to create a new report (dont know why, sometimes it happens sometimes not...)

I'm glad to know I am not the only one. Check your printer and make sure it is available at all times. My problem was that I was using a network printer that was not always available.

Good Luck

I am new to cognos too but i am aware of the time-out parameters in the windows NT, so if it is hanging on you, please make sure that it is not as a result of the time out.

I am trying to load Cognos on windows 2000, do anyone has the easy steps to follow to make sure that it is well loaded and running, i am a little paranoid because i am very new to cognos, it is only my first week using it, my company has been using it on windows NT but they wanna migrate it to windows 2000.
Any advice or help would be great.

Thanks to all the techies out there.
