Hoping someone out there has run across this same issue and has some suggestions. A few months back our IT department upgraded (we'll use that term loosely) Windows from 7 to 10. I have an Access database that I run every month to process data files for financial reporting. On the old Windows 7 machine it takes about 5 or 6 minutes to process a set of files. On the new Windows 10 machine, those same set of files take 35 to 40 minutes to process. I have 6 sets of files to process every month to I am going from an hour or so to process all of the files to 5 to 6 hours to process all of the files.

Has anyone else run across this and do you have any suggestions on what I can possibly do about it?

Thanks.

It is said that God will give you no more than you can handle. I just wish God didn't think I was just a bad ass.

First have a look at the EventViewer. Maybe you will find some errors, thrown during the Access database processing. Then maybe you will be able to fix these errors.

Other option would be to install on your Win10 a virtual machine with Win7. I'm using on my Win7 a VM with WinXP for running some legacy applications and it's working well for many years.

Have you tested the individual pieces of what's taking so long? I would suggest looking at the individual queries/actions to see which one or ones are the main culprit. Could be something in your DAO/ADODB or other data connections causing the hangup. Maybe one of those got mangled in the upgrade? If it ends up looking that way, perhaps you can rebuild the data connection(s).

Though this happened with the Windows upgrade, it may end up being better to ask in one of the Access forums, since they'd be more apt to helping troubleshoot exactly what's going on with your database.
