I am running Windows 98 2nd Edition. Every once in a while, when I boot up, I get an error message, "Windows protection error. Please restart your computer". What could this be? I just reformatted the hard drive and reinstalled Windows. Any help will be appreciated.

i have seen this fault being caused by smartdrv.exe loading in either the autoexec.bat or config.sys files on the c: drive. if its there remove the line( type rem infront of the line ) in either file.

Rob If in doubt get the Ball Pein Hammer out
