window.open - into an existing window / frame ?

Desperate for help here

I have cobbled together a basic password script (with bits from here and there)

username a, passowrd a and account a

The login page will be part of a frame site

I need 1 of two things

1 - the new window to actually open not as a new window but in the same window as the login or

2 it can open as it is but how do I hide the URL ?

What on earth is the point of client-side password validation, when anyone with half a brain cell can just view the source to see the password?
