Windoes 98 Screen Saver

I recently installed Win98. After it boots,
if I just let it alone, the selected screen saver will come on as it is suppose to. If I then go and use one of the applications and then let it just set there, the screen saver will never come back on. If I reboot, use an application, the screen saver never initializes. I checked and I do have the latest video driver installed. The selected screen saver does not make any difference. The time is set for 2 minutes. My keyboard does have a button to activate the screen saver. If I push that button at anytime, the screen saver will activate!
Any other suggestions?

What application(s) are you running when it doesn't work?
Some apps keep a java menu or somesuch on the desktop, thus refusing the .scr command from the clock. If you minimize all to the taskbar, the screensaver should work.
It could also be in the keyboard drivers. The manual button may be overriding the .scr command. Check for issues with this. Cheers,

The screen saver will only allow a 1 to 60 second parameter, so it can't get set to 0 or larger than 60 (without a registry hack). ;-) Cheers,

I have a similar problem...

Any screensaver I enable works if the timer is set to 1 minute. Any longer than that and it never activates. Anybody got a handle on that one ???
