DOes anyone have any good readme's / FAQ's on getting WINBIND working?
I know its part of Samba (RedHat 8.0).
But a) I don't understand how it fits in with normal Linux authentication and how it replaces it.
and b) I don't know how to configure it - I've got the O'Reilly and Que Samba books but neither cover WINBIND.

Apparently WINBIND also covers other areas of authentication such as FTP, WEBMIN, TELNET, SSH etc...

I'm not a Linux guru - I've only been getting serious with it in the last month so be gentle with me!

"Winbind is an nss switch module to map Windows NT Domain databases to Unix. "

In combination with Samba and pam_ntdom, a Unix box will be able to integrate straight into a full Windows NT Domain environment, without needing a Unix Account database.

Or, I'm guessing "man winbind".

Hopefully that helps you out some! J.R.
