I just got done installing Win98 and accidentally shutdown the pc in a standby mode. How do I get the pc up and running in full mode again. Any help please.
Standby is suppose to wake up by usually hitting the enter key...but this has always seemed to have problems..try unplugging the system for about 10 min or so then try again..
If the Suspend option doesn't work as it should, or you simply want
to remove the option from the Start Menu, then use this tweak.
Open your registry and find the key and value below.
Change the value of 'APMMenuSuspend' to equal '00', restart the
machine and the suspend option should have disappeared.
Registry Settings:
Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Enum\Root\*PNP0C05\0000]
Value Name: APMMenuSuspend
Data Type: REG_BINARY
Data: (00 = not visible, 01 = visible)

I personally do this as part of my shut down & power managemment ,
using W98seupg .
During boot up , press Delete & in the Power Management page , make
sure it is set to Disable .
During install , no screensavers are selected . To remove , there
are many ways . One is to Open up Control Panel , select Add/Remove
Programs & click on Windows Setup . Go down to Accessories & click
on details . Untick Screensavers .
While Control Panel is open , click on System , then Device Manager .
Click on the + next to System devices ( down the bottom ) & if Advanced
Power Management support ( or a similar name ) is there , delete it .
I then setup Power Management ( In Control Panel ) the way I like it .
Power Schemes .
Power schemes > Home/Office Desk .
System standby > Never .
Then > Turn off monitor to shut 1st & Turn off hard disks > later .
