We have stand alone 2000 Server/2000 SQL networks our company supports. A few of these networks have win98 machines connecting to a SQL database. We are having an issue with networks like this which have DSL internet access. If the internet goes down 98 workstations which are authenicating to their 2000 Domains are getting dropped from their SQL session. They then get a SQL timeout error when trying to reopen the application. This only happens when the internet is down and on windows 98 machines. When the DSL goes down it has no effect on the server SQL session or with any 2000/XP workstation. These systems are uneffected, only 98 machines fail. And as soon as the DSL in reactivated the 98 machines work again. This is a symptom which has occured in more than one of our networks that have matching scenario of a 2000 domain with DSL hosting 98 domain clients. It sounds like something with DNS the 98 machines are having a problem working with in a 2000 domain. DNS is configured properly and is also using DNS Forwarding to ISP DNS server for internet resolution. All client systems point directly to the single 2000 DC/DNS server for DNS resolution. All of these networks are small and have a single internal DNS server and single Domain ControllerHas anyone come across such an issue? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
