hi
Ive got a wireless network using a wanadoo livebox router and three wireless adapters. Two work fine, and recently i bought the third ( belkin usb ). This one is running on Win 98 SE ( the others are all using winXP).Signal strength is 59% - fine. 90% of the time, the computer will not get an internet connection; the wireless utility says it's connected, but theres no proper IP address or default gateway set, and I cant ping 192.168.1.1 . I've been on to belkin tech support and they talked me through setting a static IP.It worked while i was on the phone with them, but not afterwards (well, tell a lie, it works 10% of the time, like before). Could anyone help me please?

thank you.

I had the same problem. I am using Win98 SE on my Laptop Company Presario 1277. The wireless card is Netgear. The wireless connection worked before. After I reinstalled the laptop with the restoration CD, I installed the wireless card first. The wireless utilities showed 100% signal, however, the system could not detect DHCP and I could not ping the router either.

If I put in the wired PC card (Linksys), the connection worked fine.

Could anyone help me?

Thanks in advance.

By the way, I donot think it is a router problem since my another desktop (Win98) is connected wirelessly to the router fine.
