Hi:

Drs office has several computers, all configured the same way. Multiple os on different workstations. Some 98se, Some XP and some Win2k.

On this one win98se wksta, it can connect to the LAN devices just fine. That is, I can network to the shared drives on the server, etc.

I can also ping or and it will give back the sites IP address, but then it just goes to request times out.

I tried tweaking various network settings to force it to work, but for some reason, just this one win98 computer, won't connect to the "extra-net" It will connect to internal sites just fine.

Any Ideas?

if you have DNS specified, try not and visa versa. is there any firewalls installed on this pc? have you checked for ANY adware or spyware? you may also want to have another look into the network components installed. make sure tcp/ip is binding with the correct component. i'd try reinstalling "communications" in add/remove progs. this should take care of all of that. good luck!

I tried all that, except for actually removing and readding the tcp/ip services, and the add/remove computers for communications.

But I got them to adopt a better solution. Remove the computer from the network environment and replace it with a newer model :)

jst dnt forget to configure the dns and gateway of ur isp or if they have proxy server configure it also, then visit they have good ics software, i've tested it and it's ok...jst study it..
