Hello everyone,

First of all, I'm running a Dell Dimension XPS T600r, 600Mhz, 384M of RAM, O.S. Win98SE.
Well, here it goes. After reformating my hard drive and reinstalling Win98SE,I went back to the net for a couple of missing drivers and to redownload Spybot and AVG. I guess I wasn't fast enough installing Spybot and AVG 'cause now I am stuck with a couple of those stinky spyware that keep trying to install some kind of casino internet link. I have tried to remove it with partial success, however, in the ADD/DELETE PROGRAMS box, I does not let me delete it. Spybot doesn't see it anymore. After a sleepless night, 'cause I really need my PC, I give up. Any ideas out there? One more thing; Where in Windows can you see the same list of programs that appear in the ADD/DELETE box ?

Thank you in advance

You may not be able to uninstall it from Add/Remove Programs because it's running in the background.

Go to Start/Run, type msconfig, click OK, click the Startup tab, uncheck any entries that have that spyware's name in it, click OK, restart at the prompt, and then see if you can uninstall it in Add/Remove Programs.
If that's successful, then delete all folders and files relating to it, and d/l Ad-aware and CWShredder to get rid of any other entries in the Registry, etc.

jv16 powertools (v1.3 think this is the last free one) has a screen that displays items in the uninstall menu.

Among the buttons at the bottom of the screen are both a remove and uninstall button. I dont know how well the uninstall option works because I've not used it-my problems have been to get left over entries off the list-but it might be something you can look at. A backup might be in order before you experiment so you can get back to where you are now if anything goes wrong.

I would update spybot, boot to safe mode, and run another check. Also try to follow ski's suggestions if you haven't already.

P.S. Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.
