I just started supporting Win98SE whereas before I was supporting NT wkst. Why the hell does it choose to hang on the shutting down screen about once every 6 or 7 shutdowns. Are there any known fixes?

There are a lot of things that could cause the Win 98SE shutdown problem. With some of our PCs, we have ended up reverting to Win98 to get rid of the problem (I realize you may not have that luxury). I would suggest starting at Microsoft's page devoted to the subject:
Godd luck!

Thanks, there seems to be enough possible reasons, but this is definetely a good start.

JBC,

There are at two patches to from MS, some times these will not work.

If they fail, check out the FAQs for this forum.
