Just added a win2k server to my NT network. Loaded dhcp on this server. Some Win98 clients, randomly are getting incorrect subnet mask.

DHCP is configured as follows: Scope is 128.127.0.1 to 128.127.255.254. Subnet mask is 255.255.0.0. The lease duration is 8 days.

Some get correct sn mask, others are getting 255.0.0.0. If they go into winipcfg and release all and renew all, it comes up with the correct subnet mask. But if they were to reboot, it would come up wrong.

Is this Win2K server issue....or Win98? Can't find anything specific on this on microsoft site. Or here. Thanks.

Sounds like you might have more than one DHCP server. Was anything providing this service before? Such as a firewall/gateway or NT server? If so, try turning off the DHCP service on the 2000 server. I had a weird problem like this when I installed an emergency backup internet router and left it on when the other was repaired.

Just out of curiosity, how many PCs do you have on the network? Seems like your class C subnet is pretty large.
