win98 automatic critical update program

I have downloaded the critical update function on some WIN98 pcs. To disable it you can go into internet and disable it under advanced. You can also do this thru the startup panel. The message still comes up to download critical updates.
Are there any other places you need to disable it or do you just uninstall?

Go to these Reg keys;
Start > Run REGEDIT
HKEY_USERS\.Default\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies
and:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies
and Add a new dword value called NoWindowsUpdate and givee it a value of 1
"NoWindowsUpdate"=dword:00000001

I always just remove it from add/remove programs.

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.
