I have a preloaded Win98 machine and I am trying to install Partition Magic 6.0. The install works fine but when I try to run Partition Magic I get an Error 20 message. The message says that "The library or partition is not opened.
PowerQuest's web site just says to boot up with floppies and use rescue disk to make partition changes. Also it tells me that a .dll file is missing. Does anyone know who this can be fixed?

The preload uses all of the master HD. Are you trying to install PM for other drives or what. I've never used PM, I always use FDisk.

No just trying to launch the program from start|programs. I was able to use PM from the rescue disks and it seemed to work fine. I am going to try and reinstall Win98 over the top of what I already have. Hopefully this will help.

try disk scan on the hard drive incase there is errors on the hard drive . Partion magic is extremely fussy on hard drive errors .

if reloading on the top win
do not forget to rename first your Win.com as win.comback
then if you get the load OK just delete the previous win.comback

I always used part magic and their rescue disks work great
to be sure that it will provide you with a full range of services instead of trying a fix
I will uninstall and re do a clean full PM install

further be aware that you might want to verify that the win version to be reloaded atop will carry same IE version as the actual one. or even before loading get rid of IE.
if not you might encounter some prob

After booting up with the rescue disks and configuring my partitions that way, it seemed to fix my missing/corrupt .vxd or .dll error. Thanks for the tips. This site is great...
