I have two networked workstations and an NT server on a stand alone network. I also have an HP laserjet 6L connected to the network via a small office HP print server. I can print to the printer from only one of the workstations , but both workstations have the same settings of the captured printer. The one that doesn't work gets the following message:
HP LAserJet 6L Printing System
Network error
Unable to access print server for the network printer... I click OK then get this message:

There was an error writing to LPT1: for printer Frontdesk. The network name cannot be found

Any Ideas?
I've had this happen with an HP5Si. Couldn't see the printer, couldn't do squat. The solution has always been to delete the offending printer from the client workstation, including the associated files. Then re-install the drivers.

The ideal solution (if possible) is to avoid capturing the printer to an LPT port. Define the printer as \\HPPrint\Frontdesk (or whatever). You should be able to do this depending on the O/S running on your print server.

Hope this works for you.

Yves

Deleting and recreating the network printer did the trick... Thanks!
