Any tips on how to get a legacy application running under windows 7? I am very familiar with the compatiblity option already. The problem is I cannot install the application.
However, if I upgrade from an XP box to windows 7, the application works fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Stars are in order.

thx

Sometimes on older applications you need to right click on the .exe and install as admin. also how legacy, and what version of windows 7, and what is the application.

Windows 7 by default runs logged on Admin users with only Standard user privileges, that is why it is often necessary to right-click on any Setup, exe and select the "Run As Administrator" option, this will give your Admin user the missing higher privileges required.

It is still possible, even in this day and age, for anti virus, and other security programs, running realtime scanning, to interfere with installs.

Using Virtual Machines as a solution is another possibility.
