Programming languages always refer to Windows as "Win32", which would make sense if they're referring to 32-bit Windows operating systems. When (or will) they start using the term Win64 to refer to 64-bit Windows?

When 64-bit Windows is operational and programs are written for it using Win64 code and not Win32 code.

"That time in Seattle... was a nightmare. I came out of it dead broke, without a house, without anything except a girlfriend and a knowledge of UNIX."
"Well, that's something," Avi says. "Normally those two are mutually exclusive."

Microsoft and others have been referring to Win64 for some time. Indeed Microsoft were using the term as far back as 1999, if not earlier.

I had to look after two Itanium processors as far back as 2000, and two dual Xeon boxes to compile for them.

There was so much other st*ff afoot, I don't think a single 64-bit program was compiled. We were part of a partner program at the time, hence the free hardware ... what a waste [ponder]:~/

The new home PC is 64-bit capable, but the lack of device drivers means that I'm still running in 32-bit mode.

Note to self: Need to get Vista running at work to test the app on...
