I have about 15 people on the LAN trying to access a printer and files shared. Users are XP, Me, 98, etc.. this machine is Win2kPro. Super stable and have no problems, except that I run into every once in a while a user must reenter the password to access the drive or printer and now I am seeing some machines reporting that the Win2k machine has "too many connections at this time". I will assume that there is some sort of limitation to how many connections can be made at any one time.

I would like to increase this number... and maybe decrease the time till timeout, so that there are always free connections. I am thinking I am on the right path.

Please give any advice that I might need. Any pointers on properly setting up a Win2k box to serve files would be great.

Windows 2000 Pro only supports 10 connections at one time. No way to change that. In your scenerio the best bet would be to spread the resources to other machines as well. Or Add a Windows 2000 Server to administer the resources of your network.

(Resources would be printers, network shares, etc..)

Does Windows 2000 Server allow for more than 10 connections??
