I am a novice at maintaining a Win2003 server, so bear with me.

I tried to use DISKPART to extend the (very small) C drive and I get an error message that it cannot be done. This was verified by reviewing Microsoft's KB. It did not provide any alternatives to address the problem.

The physical disk is very large and has enough free space on it, but haven't come up with a process to allocate one contiguous area and maintain the existing data.
I am running RAID-1 with 4 drives (2 + 2)

Anyone have an idea on what I could do? Ghost image copy, etc.?

Thanks

Philip

I need to do the same but I have RAID 5 setup. From what I understand, you need to convert the disk to 'dynamic' first in disk management before you can allocate new space to it. Although I could be misinformed.

How large are your C drives? There's RARELY any good reason to want to extend the C drive if the drive is between 10-15 GB. You should not be storing data on the C: drive and just applications on a server should EASILY fit on a 10-15 GB partition.

You cannot extend the size of the C drive without using 3rd party software such as Partition Magic or Partition Commander. DiskPart will not extend a C: drive because the C drive cannot be extended in Windows (without 3rd party tools).
