I am trying to perform a network install for the OS Win2k3 on my Poweredge 750. I do not have a CD-ROM but I do have a floppy. There is another computer on the network that has a CD-ROM. What do I need to configure on the server to gain access to a shared CD-Drive?

Not sure what your trying to do?

You're using RIS? Presumably the client server has PXE boot enabled and is getting a DHCP IP address OK?

Can you explain more what you are trying to?

Thanks,

Steve.

I am trying to install Windows Server 2003 on a client sever from another server that has RIS. I followed all of those steps to set up an RIS. DHCP/AD/DNS is all set up. For some reason when I press F12 to get the PXE it seems to timeout during the part where it searches for a DHCP. After it times out, I get an error stating no boot filename received. I am not sure how to determine whether it is getting an ip from the DHCP.

Do you have another system on your network that you can use to test that DHCP is working?
Most NIC's that support PXE show the progress of getting an IP address from DHCP.

Good Luck,

Steve.
