win2k3 and rras/nat and virus/rootkits/spambots.......

if one has a win2k3 box using nat/rras to a xp pro client, and if the client gets a tojan and rootkit, is that box able to function as a working spambot? or will it not be able to recieve any new missions, but it could send spam out?
