Hi people.

Look i have a new server running windows 2003 EE, this motherboard have 2 nics, before i was using just 1 nic, the IP address came from one DHCP server in one Linux boxi.

I install 1 printer to be share for the users, this server is just another client is not doing anything related to AD.

Everything was running smooth.

Now i install vmware 1.0.3 to run inside my backup server running FreeBSD 6.2, this server is a lot of machine for just one service this is the reason i decide to run vmware there.

Everything was fine, windows 2k3 was running, freebsd Guest OS was working, but for some reason i decide to enable the other NIC just to my vm(virtual machine), them went i decide to give manually the IP to both NIC's.

But went i was giving the Gateway to the NIC2 windows told me that i will enable NLB, which i say NO, and remove the Gateway info from that NIC.

Well the problem start for the users, they couldn't print, they cannot even browse the share folders in this server, just appear in the domain, but every time they try to access the server, windows XP send the message that you don't permission to access this machine contact your network administrator, they cannot even print.

Went i try to access the server using the name \\server01 say the same message.

By IP i can access the server, but not by name.

I just delete the printer on each client and again connect the printer using the ip of the server.

This is my current status, my doubt is this:

Can i use my 2 NIC's in my server with different IP, same subnet, same gateway and DNS?
I want to use 1 for the server and the other one for my VM.

What was my mistake went i change my settings?

Is better to get back to my old settings, use 1 NIC for all my work?

Any tip about will be apreciate, thanks all for your time!!!

Hi guys, looks like i already solve this mistery.

I didn't know that if i disable some protocols in my NIC i could continue using that NIC inside my vmware-vm.

Someone told me that all i need in my NIC is vmware network protocol to be use by my vm, the others protocols are useless.

Now i have my server like i want to:

Nic1 windows 2003 Server static IP
Nic2 vmware vm

Now my clients can browse my folders and printers everything is back to normal.

Thanks all for your time!!!
