Win2k WINS Server, multiple IP addresses

Hi,

I have a problem with Win2k Server running WINS server. Basically we're re-numbering our internal IP scheme and I've configured both IP addresses on most of our servers internally. Most seem to work as expected except for the WINS server, it seems to not respond to queries if I configure the clients to use it's secondary IP address. Queries work fine if we use the primary IP. There is only one NIC in the machine, so it's not technically multi-homed.

Anyone have any ideas?

(I can't wait till we upgrade to 2000 and get rid of WINS, but we need it for now internally..)

Thanks!

If it's not multihomed, why does it have 2 IP addresses?

Since i'm in the middle of renumbering my internal IP addresses, i'd like clients in the new and old IP subnets to be able to access the servers as if they were on the same subnet. They're all on the same physical network, just logically different. But, if a client from the old IP scheme wants to talk to one on the new, they have to go through a router, since they're logically seperated. This is a lot slower, so i'd rather have the servers directly accessible on both IP subnets simultaneously.

It's not a huge problem, just odd that all other services (SMTP, DNS, etc) are able to cope with responding when queried by either IP, just not WINS.

I can't really give you answer as I've never dealt with this type of configuration. Is there an option to allow WINS to listen on different IP addresses? I know DNS has that option. Unfortunately, I don't have a server in front of me right now.
