Hi All,

I am currently experiencing a strange problem. What seems to be happening is that at least 2 or 3 times a day my server stops "dragging" items!! I don't really know how to explain it other than I just can't drag anything. By this I mean in the explorer I can't drag files or folders to different locations, and even in my applications where I have to drag items into various location I can't drag anything.

I am really at a loss for a solution here, and have been searching all over for an answer. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Kind regards,
Paolo

I have seen this before where a virus using the svchost.exe stops you copying, draging or moving any files. Check your anti-virus is up to date and do a clean sweep. Make sure you have closed the rpc procedure down with the critical patch from microsoft and run the clean programs for the Blaster Virus and Nachi virus which can be got from either or Hope this helps

Hi Twicki,

Thanks ever so much for your help! I did some research on the Blaster worm and discovered that a variant (W32/Blast-E) was residing on my server.

I have removed this and applied the applicable patches. Time will tell now whether this was the cause but I am certain it is.

Thanks again for the advice - as I mentioned I have been trying to find a solution for ages on this!

Kind regards
Paolo
