I am running Win2K SP4, on a dual Xeon server. Window's is detecting 4 processors. I am concerned that this may cause unforseen issues with the unit. Is this an issue with Win2K?

Is this a dell box by any change?

I have 2 poweredge servers with twin zeon processors in and they both show as having 4 processors, it's a bit odd but i've been running them for a while now and haven't had to reeboot them once they seem very stable. I am running 2003 server tho.

You will be using CPU's with the Hyper Threading technology incorporated in them. Each CPU reports to Windows that there are 2 so Windows picks up 4 instead of 2.

You wont be getting 4 CPU performance but it will be better than 2 CPU depending on the work being done.

You can switch Hyper Threading off in the BIOS of the machine

Hyper threading is turned on. All is well. Thanks for the advice Gents/Ladies.

Ahhh of course, i didn't expect windows to show that as 2 more processors.

Cheers.
