Win2k local domain with DNS installed on DC, RRAS with NAT installed on standalone 2k server for internet access via modem
and persistent dialup connection. Mix of 98 and 2k workstations. System works fine. RRAS host machine has 2 modem
one nic for lan access.

Set up second modem for simple dun remote access connection. Using remote 98 client, can log on, ping all stations and servers on network, both with host_name or local ip address. So it would seem DNS and WINS resolution as well as NAT is working

After logon, cannot access shared drives on any machines in network.???? Have not installed lmhost files as DNS and WINS is handling the name resolution in ping. Tracert to any box as well as localdomain.com root resolves and works as expected.

Suggestions?

TIA
David

Solved....

Problem was with client setup..

Username from default windows logon was being passed to network as user name which was incorrect. Changed settings and now all works as expected.

Now have 2k network setup with DNS, DHCP, RRAS with persistant internet connection (ppp), NAT, and Remote Access thru second modem.

Will post faq on full setup of RRAS from scratch if anyone is interested. Have not integrated VPN. No highbandwidth
connection available at this physical location, and standing IP address is not available thru dialup connection.
