Here's the scenario -

1 120GB HD partitioned 90/25/5 (GB)
Win 2000 was loaded on part 1
Red Hat 9 was loaded on part 2
- Part 3 was swap drive
Using GRUB as bootloader

I had a problem connecting to the internet, some sort of Windows Management (WMI?) thing that I don't know much about. M$ says to reload win 2k on the computer. I did, and now I lost the bootloader screen.

The partitions and the data are there, but they do not show up as drives in fdisk. Can I use Partition Magic (or another program, suggestions?) to 'fix' this without reloading Linux? I would like to exhaust my other options before I do that again.

I had this posted in the general HD issues forum and it was suggested to reload grub into the mbr. How can I do this?

Find a rescue ISO image and follow the distro's instructions for re-installing grub. Try googling for "linux rescue iso grub
