Win2K Prof -Cannot access icon properties

When right clicking on desktop icons,(any), and left clicking on "properties", the desktop goes blank for 5 seconds, then returns to desktop without accessing properties. Any suggestions? [sig][/sig]

Have you tried through control panel-->Display. Perhaps you have some Active Web or Active Desktop setting or something turned on ??
