Win2K Pro does not see my Serial Intel Mouse

I recentlty reinstalled Win2K Pro on my computer. After installation the OS does not see my mouse. I have a MS mouse with ball. I have it plugged into a serial port. It has always worked before on this system with Win2K. Can someone give me some possible solutions.
