Win2k pro cannot domain accounts when assigning share permissions

I have a win2k server and win2k pro workstation which both belong to same domain. Whenever I try to share a folder and apply permissions on the W2K pro, I can't see any of the domain accounts. I can only see the local users and groups, but can't see any listing for the active directory / domain accounts. The error I receive is that the "contents of domain could not be displayed because the path could not be found".
ALSO, when trying to view the active directory via network neighborhood, the directory appears blank with no folders visible.
