One of my desktop administrators is having an issue moving files from one directory to another on a NOVELL 4 SERVER. WE have what is mostly an NT4 network of about 1100 PC's in a dozen regional locations thruout the country. She is moving files within one region from one location on a Novell Server to another location on the same server. She is logging in on eaither a WIN2K or NT4 PC But the WIN2K PC is the issue. Here is what she wrote to me:

"When I am moving files from an associate’s PC to another associate’s PC I am right clicking on the file and dragging it to the new location and choosing “move here” The files will stop the move about 8 times out of 10 (not every time). I get an error that says “Cannot move <filename>: Cannot find specified file. Make sure you specify the correct path and filename.” When I push the choice “OK” the file move stops. However when I look, the file it mentioned has been moved to the new location, but the file move has ended and I have to start it again, in order to finish moving the rest of the files. This is only happening from windows 2000 PC’s …When I go to an NT4 PC I do not have this issue. I have tried it both from my regular logon and using the administrator logon, but this doesn’t make any difference."
If anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate it...thanks

What version of the NetWare Client is she running on the W2k PCs?

This may be similar to the reply I made under "Drive mapping issue".

Would it be overly complicated for your user to navigate to the required directory via the network tree, under "My Network Paces"?

Guess that is going to depend on why often she needs to move files. The other option would be to map a drive to the root of the volume and naviagte from there. I use this later method regularly.

BTW I'm running Netware 4.12 fully patched, W2K with SP3 and Netware Client 4.71.20000313.

Hope this helps.
