We have 6 machines - all built at the same time by the same shop with the same specs - all recently upgraded with a clean install of Win2K Pro and some had RAM added. All worked flawlessly prior to the upgrades, but now will not stay connected to the network. Users are forced to reboot to regain access to the server.

We have checked the version and settings in the BIOS, power management, Services - moved the NIC from one slot to another, updated the drivers and even swapped out to a NIC of a totally different brand. My users - and I - are getting very frustrated.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Check the Security policy of the server. One of the settings is 'Amount of idle time required before logoff'. If a user does not use the connection for n minutes, they are disconnected from the share... James Goodman
